Project Overview

Superdrug purpose is quite simply to be the best in everyday accessible beauty and health. Superdrug bring innovation and the latest styles and trends to every high street in the UK and Southern Ireland at fantastic prices. As well as the best big beauty and health brands, users will also find a host of exclusive products that they won’t find anywhere else. Plus Superdrug Own Brand collection is not only great value, it is excellent quality and all our beauty and toiletries Own Brand products carry the leaping bunny symbol which show they are certified by Cruelty Free International. Superdrug have over 800 stores including stores in the Republic Of Ireland and employ 12,500 colleagues. 200 stores have pharmacies with pharmacy consulting rooms. Currently they have 15 stores with nurse clinics offering health checks but there’s much more to who we are. Superdrug is part of the biggest health and beauty retailer in the world – A.S. Watson Group, operating retail stores across Europe and Asia. The project superdrug required was a new wireframe for their black fridays web page, a very big sale that happens in all retalier. The online website needed to be user friendly. Clear SKUs showing items to users, easy to navigate.   

UX research

I worked with the research team in house to discover all information about previous black friday site pages and how they preform in conversion rates. We use google analytics to research page performance and revenue for all the years. We looked at black friday web preformance for 2010 to 2018 satistics. We looked at our personas and superdrug customers . We also looked at age groups who shop at superdrug site so we can have a idea of what age group we are designing the user journey for.

UX data

Research was conducted using Google analytics. We compared the 2016 black friday webpage to 2017 preformances. In 2017 was a significiant increase on page clicks. We looked at the user journey to how this increase so we can understand where the design was functioning better user journey.

UX Mindset

We wanted the design to be user-centered. We look at who our customer was and type of customers who shop on superdrug website. This gave us a better knowledge on what our target market was and who we are designing the site for.

  • UX branding

    These were the brand colours we used on the new webpage for black friday. One was for VIP customers and another for regular customers. We tested the colourways on the site and which one is more suitable.

  • UX wireframe and testing

    We tested the wireframe using the analytics and taking from what work best in previous designs. We found the users click more CTA button when sub navigation was on the left and CTA on the right.
