Nord Anglia Education is the world’s largest premium international schools organisation. Every day, our teachers and support colleagues help our thousands of students achieve more than they ever imagined possible. In order to help Nord Anglia Education create the greatest digital products, I have been a part of the program's leadership team for user-centered design. In charge of the DNA Design System's development and delivery Lead DNA's user research initiatives. being an integral part of the DNA Proposition Design Team and contributing significantly to the work of the senior DNA team.
Project DNA

DNA Users - Current live Lesson tool for Teachers
Teachers New digital support gives teachers a 360 degree view of their classroom, access to proven lesson materials and a full picture of each student’s skills and needs.
DNA lessons support teachers in lesson creation, lesson planning and management and give new insight into how a class and individual students are learning. As we develop a DNA feature set, new opportunities to contextualise student and cohort data arise to give teachers instant access to insight within lessons as well as data on students that help them plan for and review individual student needs. The DNA lesson gives instant feedback on where students are in the lesson, how confident they feel with the material and the task and allows teachers to construct check-ins that give an instant read on how students are developing their learning.

DNA Users - Learner Profile for Students
Learner profile is in Discovery until early Nov MVP prototype due April 2023; plan is then to scale out simple version for September 2023 - and iterate [a version of: collect evidence of progress towards a skill; enable teacher/student discussion of that
Example on right is a low prototype which has been tested with our users in April.
UX Problem Statement
As a Teacher while teaching those remote virtual lessons over Zoom I couldn't see the student's faces or body language over Zoom.
As a teacher it is very difficult to adjusting the lesson to suit the needs of their students in a online class over zoom.
As a Teacher, I don't always feel confident that I know whether each student is actually "getting" what I'm teaching them
I have 25 students and I can refer to their body language and I can ask those who feel they don't understand to raise their hands. In The online zoom session, this was really difficult to understand.
As a Teachers I still don't feel 100% confident that I know exactly how each student is doing, live during the lesson
Other problems as a Teacher I encountered the following;
Students were not showing up to class.
Inability to tell if students are paying attention.
Inability to stop students from cheating on assignments.
UX Analysis
We looked into user behaviour using analytics and audience research in order to gain knowledge about design and usability and then apply that knowledge to enhance the user experience. We tracked, summarised, and reported analytics and user feedback in order to forecast and assess the efficacy of design solutions. The DNA product design is always being improved, with improvements being identified, given a priority, and communicated to the company as needed. Creating user personas, user needs, and user journeys based on research and conclusions.
User Needs
We evaluated our users' needs for parents, teachers, and students.
DNA Prototype Classroom
We are going to test a co-creation approach with our recruited teachers, parents and students. We will be running
Two separate cycle groups to use our lesson learning tool and preform a class session using it.
The aim of this testing is to achieve what our user needs are for our product.
DNA Design System
The Design System will ensure a scalable approach to design across the DNA Programme and cross-functional teams. The Design System will deliver a visually unified design language to service the DNA ecosystem and will contain:
A style guide – colours, typography, logos, icons, tone of voice, language etc)
A component library – reusable UI elements
A pattern library – collections of UI-element groupings or layouts
The Design System will be a fully integrated part of the DNA ecosystem:
to be accessed and utilised by all systems that are Student / Teacher / Parent facing
to deliver a cohesive design approach so that all content and systems are recognisably ‘Nord Anglia DNA’
approved by Nord Anglia Brand team and will work in line with the Nord Anglia brand as a sub-brand
Results of UX work
For the DNA project, we have successfully created a design system. We have identified and assessed our users. We have succeeded in testing our items on actual customers. We presently have a low-fidelity prototype which has been finished and we have tested. We aiming to have another prototype design and tested september this year.
